CancerConsultants: Beer and Alcohol Spirits Increase Risk of Colorectal Neoplasia A study reported in the American Journal of Gastroenterology reports that heavy consumption of spirits and beer may cause an increased risk of colorectal cancer, whereas moderate consumption of beverage alcohol of all kinds, as well as heavy consumption of wine, is associated with a lower risk.
